COVID-19 Government Updates: Lockdown Measures Introduced

Coronavirus: Latest Restrictions and Festive Guidance

🗣 Scottish lockdown announcement:
The new laws which come into force at midnight tonight will be tough on many, but remember, together we can bring this pandemic back under control.
The new rules mean that ⤵️
🚨From midnight tonight, by law, people should stay at home until, at least, the end of January.
🚨 Exceptions will include extended households (aka Bubbles), essential shopping, exercise, caring responsibilities.
🚨 A maximum of two people from up to two different households can meet outdoors. This includes everyone over 12.
🚨 Schools to remain closed until Feb 1st, for all except vulnerable children and those of key workers, which will be reviewed on 18th Jan.
🚨 Considering prioritising vaccination of teachers and schools staff.
🚨 From Friday, all places of worship will close except for funerals and weddings. No more than 20 at a funeral.
🚨 Anyone who can work from home should do so.
🚨 Ski centres, showrooms, retailers offering cosmetic/aesthetic procedures must close.
🚨 No travel in and out of local authority areas unless for essential purposes.
🚨 Children can still mix. Playgrounds will remain open.

Protect Scotland App

All smartphone users are being encouraged to download NHS Scotland's free mobile app which is designed to help us protect each other and reduce the risk of transmitting Coronavirus. 

The app will alert you if you have been in close contact with another app user who tests positive for Coronavirus. If you test positive it can help in identifying contacts that might have otherwise been missed, while keeping your information private any anonymous. 

The app is available to download for both iPhone and Android devices from the Apple and Google Play stores respectively. For more information visit: https://protect.scot/

Coronavirus Testing 

You can book a test for anyone aged 5 or older with symptoms in your household. Symptoms include a new and continuous cough, fever, or loss of or change in sense of smell or taste (anosmia).

Key workers, and anyone else in their household with symptoms, can access testing through their employer and will be given priority in the first instance.

Covid-19 National Helpline

If you are at high risk for contracting Covid-19 and do not have family or community support, please call 0800 111 4000 Monday-Friday 9-5pm for more information on the support available in your area.

Advice and Support

Advice Direct Scotland, which delivers the national consumer advice service on behalf of the Scottish Government, have created a dedicated hub to offer information and guidance on a variety of Coronavirus-related issues, including housing, employment, finances, and advice for consumers.

The hub will be frequently updated in line with new guidance and legislation and can be accessed here. You can also contact them on 0808 800 9060 from 9-5pm, Mondays to Fridays, or via a live webchat on their website.
